Oven Barbecued Turkey Legs

Simply Yummy
Ingredients
  • 4 turkey legs or thighs (or 1/4 cut legs (2 1/2 - 3 lbs)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. salt plus 1/2 tsp. celery salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. chili powder
  • 6 tsp. cooling oil
  • 1/2 c. each orange marmalade and bottled chili sauce (you can substitute 1/2 c. chopped stewed tomatoes and 1/2 c. spaghetti sauce
  • 2 tbsp. red wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Directions:
1. Wash and dry poultry pieces
2. Blend flour, salt, celery salt, pepper and chili powder.  Dredge turkey (or chicken) with this mixture
3. Heat oil in heavy skillet.  Brown poultry parts evenly on all sides
4. Stir together marmalade, chili sauce, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce
5. Put browned meat into shallow baking dish.  Spoon chili mixture over evenly.
6. Cover dish.  bake at 300 degrees for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender.  Baste once or twice with the sauce during baking.  Good served with fluffy rice and tossed salad.
